PLANET OR NOT? : THE END OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM (PART 4)
PLANET OR NOT?
Hello my wings, I hope you all are healthy and happy and reading my blogs regularly.
What are the criteria on which any celestial body can be termed as a plant or not:
The International astronomical union tossed in 2006, that on which criteria a planetoids be termed as a planet or a comet:
1. if it is in orbit around the sun;
2.has sufficient mass to get hydro static equilibrium i.e., nearly a round shape
3. clear neighborhood, another than its natural satellites.
THE END OF SOLAR SYSTEM:
It is very difficult to calculate exactly where our solar system ends. It ends at the point at which objects are no longer affected by the sun's gravitational pull. This is also the area beyond the reach of solar winds and outside the sun's vast magnetosphere. The farthest reaches of the solar system are thought to be surrounded by great HALO, named the Oort cloud, home to millions of comet nuclei and small icy rocks, which, it is speculated, lies a thousands times further from sun than Pluto.
HALO
However, more recent figures have suggested that Sedna(PART3) might be a part of the Oort cloud and not the Kuiper belt(PART3), indicating that the cloud might be closer to the sun than initially thought. If this is the case, estimates of the size of the solar system might need to be reduced.OORT CLOUD
Voyager 1 and 2 are the farthest-reaching man-made objects in the solar system. After completing successful missions to the outer planets during the 1980s, the two spacecrafts continued continued towards the edge of the solar system with the intention of reaching its outer boundary and entering interstellar space.
VOYAGER 1 AND 2
DO YOU KNOW?
1995-Hale-Bopp was discovered by Alan Hale and Thomas Bopp and holds the record for the length of time it was visible to naked eyes for 19 months.
Diameter is estimated to about 40 Km
Rotation period = 11 hours 24 minutes
Length of tail = 80-95 million Km
Distance (closest) from earth = 19,60,00,000 Km
It will return to inner solar system in year 4385.
I will be publishing next blog on "THE SUN : OUR STAR"
I
would like to make a announcement, I will be releasing a blog on every
Sunday, and this blog's topic will be from your suggestions, so comment a
topic on which you wanted to read a blog on.
